In the News…
Several members of the House Oversight Committee, including Georgia Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, said they are planning a visit with some of the defendants from the January 6, 2021, incident at the U.S. Capitol who are being held in a Washington, D.C. detention facility.
Congresswoman Greene said she has had “reports of abuse” of some of the defendants, and her visit would focus on the conditions of those held in jail.
“They’re pretrial, and they haven’t even been convicted, and they’re not allowed to see their families, many times are not allowed to see their attorneys – the food has been a major complaint,” Representative Greene said. “There’s been complaints of it tasting like cleaner.”
The congresswoman visited some of the January 6 defendants in 2021, and observed they were “suffering greatly.”
