Stealth fighter jets are the world’s most advanced.
The small Island of Tinian, just north of Guam in the Pacific, has become home to more than two dozen F-22 Raptors deployed there by the Air Force.
General Ken Wilsbach, Pacific Air Forces Commander, said, “We have never had this many Raptors deployed together in the Pacific Air Forces area of operations.” He added, “We can move forces and capabilities around the globe at will, but it’s what they do when we bring these capabilities together that matters most.”
“Guam and the Northern Mariana Islands are a strategic location that requires agility to defend if we find ourselves in a contested and degraded environment,“ said Air Force Colonel Kevin “Jinx” Jamieson, Commander of the 3rd Air Expeditionary Wing.
“The U.S. is actively practicing the deployments it will make if there is a major crisis or war. The U.S. is taking China very seriously and is developing its force posture and training its forces to be able to quickly move into position,” said Analyst Peter Layton, a former Australian air force officer.
The deployment of the Raptors is part of a military exercise but should be seen as a deterrent by China and North Korea.
