Lael Brainard was vice chair of the Federal Reserve System.
President Biden has named a replacement for Brian Deese as his primary economic advisor. He has appointed Lael Brainard as the White House Director of the National Economic Council.
He has also named Jared Bernstein as chair of the White House Council of Economic Advisers. Bernstein is a critic of free trade agreements and has helped advise the president’s “Buy America” program over the past two years.
On announcing his appointments, President Biden said, “There is still more work to do as we make this transition to more steady, stable growth, and there could be setbacks along the way. That is why my unwavering focus is on continuing to lower costs for families, rebuild our supply chains, and invest in America.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Director Brainard as she takes on her new role in the National Economic Council.
- For Jared Bernstein as he fills his position on the Council of Economic Advisers.
- For the president and his administration as they determine who to nominate and appoint to government positions.
