Two drones were shot down, but one got through.
U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) announced Friday morning that three suicide drones attacked a U.S. base in Syria.
Military officials stated, “This morning, three one-way attack drones attacked the At Tanf Garrison in Syria. Two of the drones were shot down by Coalition Forces while one struck the compound, injuring two members of the Syrian Free Army partner force who received medical treatment. No US forces were injured.
“Attacks of this kind are unacceptable,“ said CENTCOM spokesperson Joe Buccino. “They place our troops and our partners at risk and jeopardize the fight against ISIS.”
While no group has claimed responsibility, Iranian-back fighters have made similar attacks in the past. Roughly 900 American troops are deployed in Syria at various posts.
