Legislation passed along party lines.
A bill requiring medical providers to preserve the life of an infant born alive during an attempted abortion procedure passed in the House of Representatives. The legislation states that such a child is a “legal person for all purposes under the laws of the United States.”
Medical professionals would be required to care for those infants as a “reasonably diligent and conscientious health care practitioner would render to any other child born alive.” After healthcare is administered, doctors or clinicians would then be required to admit those infants to a hospital for further infant care. Violation of the law would result in fines or imprisonment.
The bill now moves to the Senate, where action is unlikely.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For members of the House of Representatives as they endeavor to preserve the lives of infants who survive abortion procedures.
- For senators as the legislation moves to the upper chamber.
- For the hearts and minds of governing officials to be touched and awakened to the value of human lives as image bearers of God.
