The Word became flesh and dwelt among us. – John 1:14
The Wise Men gazed at the stars and discovered one that directed them to Mary and Joseph and the baby Jesus. Today, the James Webb Space Telescope transmits stellar images to earth that excite scientists around the world and cause them to postulate on the origins of it all. Some day the scientists will catch up to the theologians in that regard.
The order, the complexity, and the beauty of the star systems do not surprise those who know that all of it is God-created. Even more impressive than creation is that this magnificent Creator God wanted His people to have a better understanding of Himself. To do that, He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus – confined in a fleshly body – to dwell with His people on Earth.
The apostle John speaks of Jesus as The Word. “In the beginning was The Word, and the Word was with God and the Word was God… The Word became flesh and dwelt among us” (John 1:1, 14). Commentator Dr. Roger Frederickson wrote, “In this act of incarnation, eternity and time, the divine and the human, salvation and creation, are reconciled.” Jesus did not cease to be God, but His humanity was real… a mystery that remains.
In this, God’s love for His people abounds. Jesus came to Earth, lived a life of perfection though tempted as you are, and paid the price for the sins of all humankind. All He asks is that you accept Him and believe. If you have not made that commitment, do it today. Then pray for those who will hear the Gospel message this season. May their hearts be overwhelmed by God’s love for them and believe.

And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we have seen his glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

Praise the Lord!
