Pray for our Military
Only four military aircraft out of 49 recently examined by the Government Accountability Office met their annual mission-capable goal across most fiscal years from 2011 through 2021. Twenty-six did not meet their readiness in any given year. For selected aircraft in the Air Force, Navy, and Marine Corps the average mission-capable rate has fallen, but the rate has risen for Army aircraft.
The X-37B, the Space Force’s newest spacecraft, made a successful landing at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida after spending a record 908 days in orbit. Boeing, the builder of the spaceship, said the craft covered 1.3 billion miles since its launch in May 2020.
Pray for the secretaries and leaders of all branches of the U.S. military as they attend to aircraft reliability.
Pray for AMERICA’S FOREIGN RELATIONS
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has reported that the high-grade uranium stockpile held by Iran continues to grow. They say that Iran is not being cooperative in offering any new answers to the probe of nuclear materials found in Tehran.
The parliament of Hungary, a NATO member, is expected to discuss the ratification of Sweden and Finland to the treaty during its coming session. The Foreign Minister of Germany urged ratification of the new members, stating, “With regard to the question about Hungary, I would like to underline this clearly… there is no grey area.”
Pray for NATO members as they consider Sweden and Finland for membership in the alliance.
Pray for AMERICA’S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING
The CDC reported that children are picking up serious infections at the dentists’ offices from water lines that may hold contaminants. The harmful bacteria cause infections that are difficult to treat.
Pharmaceutical company Roche has reported that their new drug to address Alzheimer’s disease has failed to slow any decline in cognition in clinical trials. No substantial functional changes were identified in memory, problem-solving, or orientation in patients with early stages of the disease.
Pray for U.S. researchers and scientists as they seek ways to address diseases and conditions that are difficult to treat.
Pray for AMERICA’S RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL
A convoy of vehicles in Syria suspected of smuggling weapons from Iran was struck by Israeli airstrikes. The border town where the attack occurred has been used as a transfer point used by militant groups connected to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps of Iran.
Project Prosperity is a new cross-border agreement between Israel and Jordan that will provide Israeli-desalinated water for Jordanian-generated solar energy. The understanding was established on the sidelines of the UN climate conference in Egypt.
Pray for Prime Minister-designate Netanyahu as he forms a government and for the nation of Israel as relationships with Arab neighbors are nurtured through the Abraham Accords.
Pray for AMERICA’S ECONOMY
A new Associated Press poll reflects that one-third of Americans report having fallen behind financially, which is twice the number shown in 2020. Nearly half of those surveyed cite escalating grocery prices as their most significant concern, followed by gas, housing, and healthcare expenses.
The Labor Department reported that the Consumer Price Index was 7.7 percent higher year over year in October, compared to 8.2 percent in September. While inflation may be slowing a bit, it still remained higher than economists expected.
Pray for U.S. economic officials and advisors as they assess the marketplace and for families who are experiencing financial difficulties.
Pray for Justice in America
A U.S. District Court judge ordered Kroger to pay $180,000 to two employees who were fired for refusing to wear LGBTQ pride symbols for religious reasons. The judge ordered a change in company policy regarding religious exemptions, along with new training for employees. The court said the two former employees “both have sincerely held religious beliefs that homosexuality is a sin and that they cannot support or promote it.”
Pray for people of faith across America whose jobs have been jeopardized because of their strongly held religious beliefs.
Pray for America’s Education
Catholic schools in Denver were advised by their Archdiocese that enrolling students claiming to be transgender was discouraged. The church authority warned that allowing such students could be confusing to other pupils and possibly hurtful to the child claiming to be of the gender opposite their biological sex.
Pray for educators and school administrators as they develop policies regarding discipline and gender dysphoria.
Pray for Needs Across the States
Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin ordered state and U.S. flags at half-staff at all government buildings the day following a shooting at the University of Virginia. The action was in respect and to commemorate the victims and their families. Three football players were killed and two others injured.
Voters in South Dakota approved a measure to expand Medicaid by covering more than 40,000 people under the Affordable Care Act. The program will take effect in July 2023.
Pray for governors and state legislatures as they respond to the situations and needs of the residents of their states.
Pray for America’s Faith Community
