Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration
The White House has opened applications for its Internship Program for the summer of 2023. This will be the second round of internships that receive a stipend since the administration made the positions paid in June of this year.
Secretary Pete Buttigieg of the Department of Transportation recently announced the investment in U.S. port development to strengthen the supply chain. Ports along the coasts, rivers, and the Great Lakes will receive funding to increase capacity and streamline the transport of goods.
Pray for the president and his Cabinet to seek God’s guidance as they set policies and implement programs.
Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress
The recent attack on the husband of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in their San Francisco home, which left him hospitalized, has caused members of Congress to suggest a need for heightened security.
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer of New York and Senators Richard Blumenthal of Connecticut, Edward Markey of Massachusetts, and Ron Wyden of Oregon recently signed on to a letter to Acting Administrator Billy Nolen urging the FAA to regulate the airlines’ continued reduction of the size of airplane seats and pitch.
Pray for members of the House and Senate as they seek solutions to the nation’s issues.
PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES
Some members of the House Oversight Committee are beginning an investigation into the involvement of the Department of Homeland Security regarding what they believe to be a “taxpayer-funded censorship campaign.”
Representative James Comer of Kentucky, the ranking member of the House Oversight Committee, said that if the majority party of his chamber changes, his top investigation priorities include the origins and management of the COVID-19 pandemic and southern border security.
Pray for members of the congressional committees as they review and evaluate federal activities.
Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges
The Supreme Court is hearing a case regarding the Indian Child Welfare Act of 1978, which was intended to protect tribal relationships and connections. The law requires child custody of Native Americans to be determined solely upon race rather than the best interest of the child.
The Ninth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals has ruled that the First Amendment prohibition on “compelled speech” allows beauty pageants to limit their contestants to biological females.
Pray for discernment for U.S. justices and judges as they consider the cases before them.
