The driver apprehended by Capitol Police claimed to be delivering documents.
On Wednesday, the Capitol Police apprehended a man who was illegally parked on Capitol grounds in a white van and was found to have three firearms in his backseat, two handguns, and a shotgun. The man said he was trying to deliver documents to the Supreme Court. He was arrested, and two passengers that were in the car with him were briefly detained before being let go.
“The driver, 80-year-old Tony H. Payne of Tunnel Hill, Georgia, was charged with Unregistered Firearm, Unregistered Ammunition, and Carrying a Pistol without a License,” the Capitol Police reported. The Capitol Police arrest dozens of people per year for bringing firearms onto Capitol grounds, which is also illegal.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Chief Manger as he oversees the U.S. Capitol Police.
- For the Capitol Police officers as they seek to keep Capitol Hill, and everyone on it, safe.
- For Americans to be aware of and abide by the law.
