Congress passed the Clean Water Act of 1972 fifty years ago today. President Joe Biden issued a proclamation marking the anniversary.
He stated that the act revolutionized “America’s responsibility to protect and restore the vital waterways that sustain our communities, our economy, and our ecosystems.“
The president continued, “Five decades later, our Nation’s waters are dramatically cleaner. Once dead rivers and lakes are now flourishing with wildlife. People have returned to boat, fish, and swim. Sacred waters that Tribal Nations have relied on for generations are clean again. … The Clean Water Act is a powerful reminder of Americans’ ability to make change for the better when we work together.“
Vice President Kamala Harris is in California today. She will travel to San Francisco to participate in a conversation regarding efforts to address climate change.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the president and his administration as they seek to conserve and steward the nation’s water.
- For wisdom for U.S. officials as they seek solutions to the drought in the western states.
- For the safety of the vice president as she travels in California.
- That Vice President Harris would seek the Lord’s direction as she participates in the climate conversation.
