Administration Fixes Obamacare “Family Glitch”

Gives 1 Million more Americans health care, mostly children.

The Treasury Department and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) published a final rule this week that fixes the Obamacare “family glitch.” Under the Affordable Care Act, family members cannot receive federal health care if they are already covered by an affordable employer-sponsored health plan. Many people covered by those health plans cannot add new family members to their plans, causing many children to go without health care due to that gap in legislation.

The final rule addresses this issue, making over 1 million Americans, mostly children, now eligible for Medicaid even if their caretaker is enrolled in an affordable employer-sponsored health plan. “This marks the most significant administrative action to implement the Affordable Care Act since the law was first put into place,” President Biden stated.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the president and his administration as they work to ensure Americans have access to adequate health insurance.
  • For Secretary Yellen to seek the Lord’s guidance as she heads the Treasury Department.
  • For Commissioner Rettig to have discernment as he leads the Internal Revenue Service.
