For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known. – 1 Corinthians 13:12
The first recorded question from God to humanity still rings across time. “Where are you?” (Genesis 3:9). He is not asking about geographic location. Rather, He is interested in the whereabouts of your heart, your ambitions, your thoughts, and your dreams. Some mistakenly think they can know God in a close relationship yet not allow Him to know them fully! That is Adam’s original bad idea – hiding from God.
When sin entered the world, humankind quit trusting God’s goodness. It may be hard to believe He wants to join you in your messy and unfinished business, but God seeks to find you in your uncomfortable spot so that you may know Him even as you reside in an unpleasant place! “Where shall I go from your Spirit? Where shall I flee from your presence? If I ascend to heaven, you are there! If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there! If I take the wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea, even there your hand shall lead me, and your right hand shall hold me” (Psalm 139:7-10).
Let God throw on the lights in every corner of your life and invite Him to meet you there. As you learn to hide in the Lord and not from Him, encourage those around you to come to Him! The Lord wants to rescue each soul from the dark places they have found to hide. Pray for decision-makers in the United States to have the courage to be fully known by God, confessing sin and ungodly ambitions as needed. Ask that many will welcome His presence into their lives today.
Today’s Verse: 1 Corinthians 13:12
2 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.
