$100 million in grants will help formerly incarcerated rejoin communities.
The Department of Justice announced that $100 million dollars has been made available to help those coming out of prison integrate into society and reduce their chances of reentering the prison system. Associate Attorney General Vanita Gupta made the announcement at an event hosted by the Osborne Association in Brooklyn, New York, celebrating the work of organizations dedicated to that cause.
“As we work to build safer and stronger communities, these grants will prepare and support people coming out of America’s prisons, jails, and juvenile facilities, creating a path to opportunity and supplying the tools needed to build productive, successful lives,” said Associate Attorney General Gupta. “The investments we are making today will help us ensure that individuals returning home are in the best position to succeed.”
