Announces new requirements for the department’s Law Enforcement Task Force.
This week, the Department of the Interior announced new policies to make the Departmental Law Enforcement Task Force more transparent and accountable. As outlined in a new chapter in the agency’s departmental manual, Interior law enforcement officers will now be required to wear body-worn cameras, and the storage and release of video footage will be made more clear more quickly.
“In reforming policing practices, the Department is helping strengthen the unique connection that law enforcement officers have with the communities that they serve and move the nation forward towards community-focused law enforcement,” said Deputy Secretary Tommy Beaudreau, leader of the Task Force.
