Secretary of the Interior announces committee leadership.
The Department of the Interior held the first-ever meeting of the Secretary’s Tribal Advisory Committee (STAC) last week. The committee, which came out of the 2021 White House Tribal Nations Summit, ensures that “Tribal leaders have direct and consistent contact and communication with current and future Department officials to facilitate robust discussions on intergovernmental responsibilities, exchange views, share information, and provide advice and recommendations regarding Departmental programs and funding that impact Tribal Nations to advance the federal trust responsibility,“ the department stated.
“With new leadership helping to guide the first-ever Secretary’s Tribal Advisory Committee, Tribal leaders will engage at the highest levels of the Department on the issues that matter most to their people,” said Secretary Haaland. “I look forward to continued discussion and ensuring that the Department honors and strengthens our nation-to-nation relationships with Tribes.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Secretary Haaland to seek God’s guidance as she cooperates with tribal leaders in the advisory committee.
- For Committee Chair Whitney Gravelle as she heads the tribal advisory committee.
- For Interior officials and tribal leaders as they assess the needs of the native and indigenous people.
