Andrew Clyde
U.S. Representative for Georgia
Andrew Scott Clyde was born in November 1963 in Walkerton, Ontario, Canada, to American parents. He grew up in Indiana and New York. He earned an undergraduate degree from Bethel University. He entered the U.S. Navy through the University of Notre Dame’s ROTC program. He served 28 years in naval aviation units and the Seabees, including three combat deployments to Iraq and Kuwait. He retired with the rank of commander and settled in Georgia where he taught at the Navy Supply Corps School. Clyde earned an M.B.A. in corporate finance and entrepreneurship from the University of Georgia Terry College of Business after leaving the Navy.
He was a businessman in Georgia, opening a gun shop, and dealing in commercial real estate.
He was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, assuming office in January 2021.
Clyde is married to Jennifer. He is a Baptist.

Planned Parenthood’s Medical Director for Primary and Trans Care claimed that men can get pregnant during a House Oversight Committee hearing on abortion.
During the hearing, Representative Andrew Clyde of Georgia asked Dr. Bhavik Kumar if biological men have the capacity to get pregnant and give birth. The director responded in the affirmative.
“Men can have pregnancies, especially trans men,” Dr. Kumar said.
“So can biological men become pregnant and give birth?” Congressman Clyde persisted. “So, are you saying that a biological female who identifies as a man and therefore becomes pregnant is a quote, a man? Is that what you’re saying?”
“These questions about who can become pregnant are really missing the point, and I’m here to talk about what’s happening in Texas,” Dr. Kumar responded.
Representative Clyde continued to question Dr. Kumar on the point. Dr. Kumar repeatedly claimed that both men and women can get pregnant.
“Somebody with a uterus may have the capability of becoming pregnant whether they’re a woman or a man, that doesn’t make a difference,” Dr. Kumar said. “Not every person with a uterus has the ability to become pregnant.”
“Ok, we’re done,” Representative Clyde answered. “This isn’t complicated. Let me tell you: if a person has a uterus and is born female, they are a woman. That is not a man, and the vast majority of the world considers that to be a woman, because there are biological differences between men and women.”
Congressman Clyde closed his time by submitting the U.S. Constitution for the record, which he said does not include a right to abortion. He then asked to submit the Declaration of Independence, which he said includes an “inalienable right to life.”
