Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration
President Joe Biden has named John Podesta, who was formerly campaign manager for President Clinton and a counselor to President Obama, to be senior adviser to the president for clean energy innovation and implementation.
The U.S. Border Patrol is cautioning migrants attempting to illegally enter the U.S. not to do so amid record-high temperatures and intense weather, which recently resulted in at least nine deaths. The warning comes as migrants continue to cross the Del Rio sector by the hundreds.
Pray for the president and his advisors as they address domestic issues and implement policies.
Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress
Senator James Lankford of Oklahoma is asking Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin to take action after reports surfaced revealing deplorable living conditions for service members who have religious objections to the COVID vaccine. He said the deplorable living conditions amount to “illegal retribution.”
Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut recently returned from a visit to Colombia and Mexico, where he discussed the trafficking of drugs and weapons across the U.S.-Mexico border. He said, “There is a vicious cycle of guns moving south and drugs moving north.”
Pray for members of Congress as they provide oversight of federal agencies and raise concerns about cartel smuggling at the southern border.
PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES
The House Oversight and Government Reform Committee reached an agreement with former President Donald Trump’s attorneys, requiring the former president’s accounting firm to turn over his financial records. The committee had issued a subpoena to obtain those records in April 2019 as part of its larger investigation into whether the former president engaged in conflicts of interest, self-dealing, or foreign financial ties.
Members of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee have requested a briefing from the Department of Energy over its sale of nearly one million barrels of oil to China out of the Strategic Petroleum Reserve.
Pray for the congressional committee members as they undertake investigatory actions.
Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges
The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a voting restriction in Mississippi’s constitution that removes voting rights from people convicted of certain felonies. The ruling stated that, while the provision was created with racist intent, it no longer operates in a racist manner in the state.
A federal judge ruled New York state can restrict citizens from concealing and carrying guns in public through a new law that was challenged by a national firearms organization. However, he did block the requirements by the state for training, character references, an in-person interview with an officer, and a social media background check in order to purchase a handgun.
