Uranium enrichment has expanded in Iran.
Negotiators from the U.S., the European Union, and Iran resumed their months-long indirect talks over Tehran’s abandoned nuclear deal. The resumption of the Vienna talks, called suddenly on Wednesday, appear not to include high-level representation from the countries that were part of the 2015 deal Iran made with world powers.
At the same time, international inspectors are reporting that the Islamic Republic is expanding its uranium enrichment.
There is growing skepticism over the prospects for a deal to restore the accord. The top diplomat for the EU warned that “the space for additional significant compromises has been exhausted.”
U.S. Special Representative for Iran Rob Malley stated that “our expectations are in check.”
