U.S.Ambassador to Ukraine
Bridget Ann Brink is a native of Michigan. She earned an undergraduate degree in political science from Kenyan College and a master’s in international relations and political theory from the London School of Economics.
She joined the U.S. State Department and served as a consular political officer in the U.S. Embassy in Belgrade for two years. She spent the next three years as a Cyprus desk officer, then was special assistant for Europe to the Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs. She spent three years as political-economic chief in Tbilisi.
She became the deputy director for southern European affairs at the State Department, joining the National Security Council as director for the Aegean and South Caucuses. She later returned to Georgia as deputy chief of mission at the U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi. She spent two years in Uzbekistan.
She became deputy assistant secretary in the Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs. President Donald Trump nominated Brink to become the ambassador to Slovakia. She was confirmed by the Senate in May 2019. She was nominated by President Joe Biden to be ambassador to Ukraine. Her nomination was fast-tracked and she was unanimously confirmed by the Senate. She presented her credentials in May 2022.
Brink speaks English, Russian, Serbian, Georgian, and French.

U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink revealed the five goals President Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken have given diplomats in Ukraine, stating that “we are here to stop this conflict from becoming bigger” and to prevent further European aggression from Russia.
Ambassador Brink said the five goals given to staff in Ukraine by the president and secretary of state include helping Ukraine defend itself and deter further Russian aggression, and ensuring that humanitarian aid – especially U.S.-provided aid through U.N. organizations – makes its way to the intended recipients.
“I hesitate to predict the future, but I can say that the president and Secretary Blinken and myself, and everyone who is working on this issue, is absolutely determined to stick to it to the end, to help Ukraine defend itself, because we believe this is not only a moral issue in terms of ensuring that might doesn’t make right, but it’s also an issue of strategic national interest for Europe and for the United States,” the ambassador said.
