Conflict Prediction

May the Lord bless his people with peace!  – Psalm 29:11

Think tanks around the world have been engaged in conflict prediction for years. Interestingly, following the 2008 financial crisis, rather than increased conflict, peace was predicted to occur on a global scale by 2050! Not surprisingly, those ideas are no longer in the top results of your google search for global peace!

World peace is a lovely concept but, in the Bible, it is not a reality until Christ returns and sets up His kingdom on Earth. “God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, or pain anymore, for the former things have passed away” (Revelation 21:3-4). Until that time Jesus said, “You will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not alarmed, for this must take place” (Matthew 24:6).

Living in a warring world does not require you to become an agent of anxiety. You can still live a life of faith and confidence in God rather than dreading future disastrous events. Until the time Christ returns and the world recognizes Him as Lord, His followers look to Him, not to the world, for peace, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you” (John 14:27).

Ask God to spread His gospel of hope through your peaceful demeanor in these trying times. Pray for those making decisions in America to discover real hope and real peace in Christ bringing blessing to the nation.

Therefore strong peoples will glorify you;
    cities of ruthless nations will fear you.
4 For you have been a stronghold to the poor,
    a stronghold to the needy in his distress,
    a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat;
for the breath of the ruthless is like a storm against a wall,
5     like heat in a dry place.
You subdue the noise of the foreigners;
    as heat by the shade of a cloud,
    so the song of the ruthless is put down.

6 On this mountain the Lord of hosts will make for all peoples
    a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wine,
    of rich food full of marrow, of aged wine well refined.
7 And he will swallow up on this mountain
    the covering that is cast over all peoples,
    the veil that is spread over all nations.
