Supports abortion after its legality of nearly 50 years.
After the draft of the Supreme Court’s decision to potentially overturn Roe v. Wade was leaked on Monday evening, President Biden released a short statement on Tuesday morning regarding the contents of the draft.
The president said that his administration argued in defense of Roe v. Wade during the current Supreme Court case, and is currently fighting state efforts to make abortion illegal. He also called on all officials at all government levels to protect women’s right to choose.
President Biden believes that “a woman’s right to choose is fundamental, Roe has been the law of the land for almost fifty years, and basic fairness and the stability of our law demand that it not be overturned.”
