Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration
President Joe Biden’s administration is rescinding Title 42, the public health policy enacted for the rapid expulsion of migrants at the border during the pandemic. The filing of this order comes after pressure from within his party and from immigration advocates, and after the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention had lifted Title 42.
FAA Administrator Steve Dickson, on stepping down from his position, recommended the agency’s “zero-tolerance policy” for addressing unruly passengers should remain in place indefinitely even if the president’s administration decides to lift a mandate requiring masks onboard airplanes.
Pray for the president and officials in his administration as they make decisions regarding public safety, health, and the economy.
Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress
Representatives Gregory Meeks of New York and Michael McCaul of Texas introduced a bill that seeks to collect evidence to be used to prosecute war crimes being committed in Ukraine by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Pray for members of the House of Representatives and for its leadership and the agenda they are pursuing in advance of the midterm elections in November.
PRAY FOR CONGRESSIONAL COMMITTEES
The House Natural Resources Committee requested the CEOs of three major oil companies testify at a hearing that was scheduled for April 5. The hearing’s purpose was to help stabilize U.S. gas prices amid the war in Ukraine, but the chief executives have refused to appear. The hearing “will not go forward,” Committee Chairman Raul Grijalva of Arizona stated. He added that the rising price of gas has caused people to call for increased drilling “but when you look at oil companies’ record profits, these claims don’t add up.”
Pray for members of Congress seeking to address the increase in oil and gas prices across the U.S. and its impact not on transportation, manufacturing, farming, and service industries.
Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges
A divided three-judge panel from the U.S. Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals granted a Northern Virginia school board a stay, allowing a “race-based” admissions policy to remain in place after a federal district court issued a summary judgment in favor of parents who claimed the new admissions policy was intended to reduce the number of students of Asian descent who were admitted to the prestigious Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology.
The Senate advanced Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s nomination to the Supreme Court with a procedural vote after the Senate Judiciary Committee deadlocked on her nomination, with the panel voting 11-11 along party lines. A final confirmation vote is expected Friday.
