Development of hypersonic weapons systems is future of warfare.
In an interview on Tuesday, U.S. Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall stated that the United States is currently in an arms race with China to develop hypersonic weapons. These weapons are defined by being low-flying, exceptionally fast, and maneuverable weapons able to outpace traditional anti-missile technology.
Secretary Kendall said, “There is an arms race, not necessarily for increased numbers, but for increased quality.” He pointed out that the increased military spending in Iraq and Afghanistan had caused American research to lag behind Chinese competition. The Pentagon is currently seeking ways to decrease the cost of these weapons which are currently tens of millions of dollars per unit.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For officials of the Defense Department to seek God’s guidance on how to protect the U.S.
- That Secretary Kendall would be led by the Lord as he addresses the arms race between the U.S. and China.
- For the president and his administration as they evaluate solutions in this competition with China.
