Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration
President Joe Biden said the Omicron variant of the coronavirus is “a cause for concern, not a cause for panic,” assuring the American people that the fight against Omicron won’t include “shutdowns or lockdowns.”
More than 6.5 million illegal immigrants in the United States would be granted amnesty and allowed to obtain government benefits in the president’s Build Back Better Act now pending in the Senate according to a review by the Congressional Budget Office.
Pray for wisdom and a calm assessment of matters for the members of the administration dealing with unanticipated events like the new variant of the coronavirus.
Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress
Representative Scott Fitzgerald of Wisconsin, who represents the congressional district that includes Waukesha where the Christmas parade massacre happened, said that action shows the “absolute” need for bail reform. “When you see the kind of the rap sheet [and] the turnstile approach to justice, where these guys are in and out, in and out, in and out, it just goes back to a system that is broken,” he said.
Congress is considering a bill that would require critical infrastructure operators and federal agencies to report any cyber breaches and attacks to the top federal cyber agency, but the FBI says it wants to be in the reporting loop as well.
Pray for members of Congress as they consider many legislative and spending items before the end of the month.
Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges
The Supreme Court announced that it will hear a case over whether legislators in North Carolina can intervene to defend the state’s voter ID law from lawsuits. Oral arguments will be sometime next year, and a ruling would be expected in June.
A U.S. District Court ruled in favor of an emergency injunction, requiring the San Diego Unified School District to temporarily halt the implementation of its vaccine mandate based on the need to consider student requests for religious exemptions from vaccinations.
Pray for members of the Supreme Court as they debate and rule on cases involving abortions that they have recently heard.
