Psalm 34:17 – When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.
A University in England has released what it calls the “Apple” technique for dealing with anxiety and worries during this time of international crisis. Borrowing from their suggested ideas, here is your Bible-based Apple.
A – Acknowledge. You can acknowledge your uncertainties about the pandemic, but how much better it is to acknowledge your dependence upon the God of the Universe. Proverbs 18:10 says, “The name of the Lord is a strong tower; the righteous man runs into it and is safe.”
P – Pause. Take a deep breath; don’t over-react. Remember God has said, “Fear not for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand” (Isaiah 41:10).
P – Pull back. Disconnect from everything not helpful or necessary. Do this instead. “Seek the Lord and his strength, seek his presence continually!” (1 Chronicles 16:11).
L – Let Go. Release discouragement and fear. In Isaiah 41:3, the Lord says, “Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name and you are mine.”
E – Explore. Shift your focus and try something new. Spend more time in God’s Word which is “more to be desired are they than gold, even much fine gold; sweeter also than honey and drippings of the honeycomb” (Psalm19:10); and in prayer, for God has said, “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
Pray With Us
Precious Lord, thank You for Your Holy Word that puts so much into focus for me each time I pick it up. It is so good to put my hope in You during these times when the world is so troubled. I pray for our nation today, O God, that You would hear the cries of Your people and heal us. Nevertheless, as Jesus Himself said, Not my will, but Yours. You have a purpose, God, and it will be revealed in due time. Keep me trusting and let my faith in You be a light to others. Thank you, in Jesus Saving Name,
Amen.
