Psalm 34:18 – The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.
Americans from coast to coast and border to border are facing a dreadful virus that brings with it sickness, disease, despair, and death. Hopeful words are often drowned out by tones of caution, even harsh rebuke. Spirits are crushed, and hearts have been broken as the crusading “unseen enemy” takes its toll.
Where is God? You feel you’ve been praying, but He hasn’t intervened…or at least not in a way that you readily recognize.
Rest assured that God is closer in times like these, He has not and will not abandon you. You trusted Him yesterday. Trust Him now with your tomorrows.
Look around you! You will see God’s hand working through people in unexpected acts of kindness, words of comfort, a story told that gives you a surprising moment of laughter. Give God thanks when you are on the receiving end, and grace when you are the giver.
Remember, too, that this time will not last forever. 1 Peter 5:10 says, “And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you.”
Pray With Us
Eternal and Loving Father, thank You for reminding me that You have always been trustworthy for me, that tears may endure for a night but joy comes in the morning. Help me be alert to be thankful for the small things that You are working out according to Your plan. Comfort me in knowing that Your plans are always perfect. Hold me in Your Mighty Hands when my spirit feels crushed. I pray in Jesus’ Name that in all these days and through all this turmoil, You will be exalted, O Father, and Your Name will be glorified.
Amen.
