Today, President Joe Biden is in Rome, Italy. He will meet privately with Pope Francis first and afterward attend a bilateral meeting with Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the secretary of state, at the Vatican.
White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said the president expects a “warm and constructive dialogue” with the pope. She stated, “There’s a great deal of agreement and overlap with the president and Pope Francis on a range of issues: poverty, combating the climate crisis, ending the COVID-19 pandemic.”
President Biden will then meet with the hosts of the G20 summit, Italian President Sergio Mattarella and Prime Minister Mario Draghi, at Quirinale Palace. The president will later meet with President Emmanuel Macron of France at Palazzo Farnese.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the president and the pope to seek God’s discernment in their discussions.
- For President Biden to have wisdom in speaking with the Italian heads of state.
- For the president as he endeavors to strengthen the relationship of the U.S. with France.
