Border agents and their canine partners successfully interdict shipments of illicit substances.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) has continued to protect the American public from illegal drugs as they interdict record amounts of smuggled substances this year. CBP agents seized 1,221 pounds of methamphetamine, worth over $24 million, that was detected in the walls of a box truck in Texas this past week. Other confiscations include two shipments of Ketamine that totaled 26 pounds in Indiana and 1,000 fentanyl pills in a vehicle in California.
“Although anti-terrorism is our primary mission, CBP officers continue to maintain their vigilance to ensure commercial entries are safe and free of contraband, as this narcotics seizure illustrates,” said Port Director Paul Del Rincon, Eagle Pass Port of Entry.
Director of Field Operation-Chicago LaFonda Sutton-Burke stated, “Drug traffickers are persistent in their attempts to smuggle hard narcotics into the United States, however, through our hard work and vigilance we will continue to intercept these dangerous drugs at our port of entry before they can harm our communities.”
