I will not remove from him my steadfast love or be false to my faithfulness. – Psalm 89:33
Psalm 89 talks about a faithful God dealing with unfaithful people. The Lord made promises to King David concerning his lineage and, though the Israelites often rebelled, God stood by His promises. Let His words refresh your mind and spirit by inserting your name in today’s verse. “I will not remove from (your name) my steadfast love or be false to my faithfulness.” In Jesus Christ are “precious and very great promises” (2 Peter 1:4).
The Lord faithfully keeps His promises even when His people go astray. However, as a loving father disciplines his children for their own good, so does Father God. The author of Hebrews illustrates this view of hardship as discipline (Hebrews 12:7). As you witness this country goes through difficulties and some parts of the world endures severe trials, open your heart to any changes that God wants to make in your life. Seek the Lord about any areas He would like to refine or transform.
Rejoice that, though humans are imperfect, God’s promises are forever and steadfast. Meditate on His promises and maintain your hope for His purpose to be accomplished in your loved ones and the country. Pray for those coming to this nation for refuge, that they will meet God in the people who help them and that they will turn to the Lord, receiving salvation in Christ. Ask that the leaders of this country would seek God and His wisdom in all the issues they face.
