Uses Defense Production Act to provide firefighting equipment.
On Monday, President Biden traveled to the western United States to survey the damage caused by forest fires this year. He met with federal and state officials of the National Interagency Fire Center in Boise, Idaho. He has recently been promoting his administration’s approach to the increase in natural disasters caused by climate change, saying over the weekend, “the evidence is clear: Climate change poses an existential threat to our lives, to our economy.”
In August, President Biden set a new precedent by activating the Defense Production Act to funnel funding to the Forest Service’s firehose supplier. Typically, the Defense Production Act has been used during wartime to produce weapons and equipment for the military. President Biden also used the act to boost vaccine supplies.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For safety for the president as he travels.
- For the president’s administration to seek God’s guidance as they address climate change.
- For the officials in the U.S. Forest Service as they work to prevent wildfires.
