The United States has been through many hard times. From the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, the two World Wars, to the attacks of September 11th, 2001, and to the present, God has been merciful to this nation. Author and speaker, Max Anders, once wrote, “The thoughtful believer recalls God’s faithfulness in the past when confronted by any new threat. Part of spiritual maturity is strong sense of one’s own history.”
God has been faithful to the United States. Has this nation been faithful to God? Before God’s judgment came upon Sodom and Gomorrah, He promised Abraham He would spare the place for ten righteous people. There were not even ten. Those were led away from the area by angels, then Sodom and Gomorrah were destroyed. Now, the United States faces a worldwide pandemic, political unrest, and moral upheaval. Yet believers have hope because of the promises of Scripture. God is faithful to answer the prayers of His people. In a 2020 survey by the Pew Research Center, 65% of adults in the United States identified themselves as Christians. What would happen if they all earnestly prayed for this country?
Today marks 20 years since the September 11th attacks and the start of this ministry the following week. The good news is that God’s people still have unwavering hope because He who promises is faithful. Meditate on the promises of God as you lift your prayers up in hope for friends, loved ones, and the United States. “If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and forgive their sin and heal their land” (2 Chronicles 7:14).
