The Department of Homeland Security continues limits to “essential” travelers for the 17th month.
On Wednesday, the U.S. Embassy released an update to coronavirus travel restrictions into the United States from Mexico and Canada. The temporary limitations to land travel have been in place since March 2020 and coordinated with the two neighboring nations have been extended through August 21.
Canada recently announced the easing of restrictions for the entry of U.S. citizens who have proof of vaccination. The U.S. restrictions do not apply to American citizens or legal residents returning to the country. The definitions of essential travel can be found on the U.S. government site.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention requires all air passengers, regardless of citizenship or residency status, “to present a negative COVID-19 test, taken within three calendar days of departure or proof of recovery from the virus within the last 90 days” to enter the United States.
