National Parks Remain Open Amid Coronavirus

Expansive open spaces provide for limited contact

In Cooperation with the Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) the National Park Service (NPS) announced on Monday that it would keep national parks open during the growing Coronavirus pandemic. Due to the large and open nature of many of the parks, the NPS will only close facilities that would cause people to come in close contact with one another.

According to a press release from the NPS, “Visitors can be assured that facilities and services in national parks, including lodges, restaurants, and shuttles, continue to monitor conditions and maintain high standards related to the health and wellness of staff and visitors.” The NPS also urged visitors to follow proper hygiene and keep a safe social distance of about 6 feet from others.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • That God would lead the NPS on how best to protect their visitors.
  • For the CDC to effectively inform people about the health risks of COVID-19.
  • That FEMA would be able to prevent extensive damage from the pandemic.
