Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration
Vice President Kamala Harris sees Guatemala as the key to stemming the Northern Triangle’s immigration influx to the U.S. southern border. She already has the leadership of El Salvador and Honduras “under scrutiny.” She told the Council of the Americas Washington Conference on the Americas, “No matter how much effort we put in—on curbing violence, providing disaster relief, on tackling food insecurity, on any of it—we will not make significant progress if corruption in the region persists.”
Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Marcia Fudge said HUD is not prioritizing U.S. citizens over illegal immigrants for public housing assistance, despite a shortage of available units in certain areas. She said, “We are doing everything we can possibly do to take any person living in this nation off the streets. That’s kind of our posture. I think that is exactly where we are headed.”
Pray for administration officials as they deal with the many issues surrounding immigration, border security, the influx of unaccompanied minors, and the challenges of border states.
Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress
Senator Marco Rubio of Florida introduced two bills to counter China’s efforts to collect American healthcare and genomic data, both legally and illegally. “There is no reason for American taxpayers to be funding Beijing’s research or for our policies to enable access to American’s genomic data,” Rubio said in a statement. “It’s imperative that Congress take steps to confront this growing national security and privacy threat.”
Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina said he and a number of his colleagues are concerned with the growth of anti-Israel rhetoric from other members of Congress, decrying their support of Hamas. “When the Iranians and Hamas hear [some] members in the Congress and the Senate basically saying no difference between Israel and Hamas, it only incentivizes more violence. Hamas’ goal is to destroy the Israelis. If you don’t get that, you’re not really paying much attention,” he said.
Pray for members of both houses of Congress as they deal with divisions in ideology and policy goals.
Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges
The Supreme Court sent three climate change cases back to lower courts after it ruled in favor of oil companies regarding their contribution to the cost of state and local infrastructure. In all three cases, the Court asked appeals courts to reconsider the disparities between oil companies and state and local governments in light of its ruling in a case involving BP, Exxon Mobil, as well as other oil companies and the city of Baltimore.
A federal judge ruled that transgender students must be allowed to share dorm rooms and shower spaces with those of the opposite biological sex at a Christian College in Missouri. If the college violates the order, it could face up to six-figure fines. School administrators are expected to appeal the decision.
Pray for wisdom for America’s judges and justices as they hear cases surrounding cultural changes.
