Executive Branch: Pray for the President and his Administration
President Biden’s advisers said they will present a proposal to spend as much as $3 trillion on a wide-ranging series of economic efforts, including a massive infrastructure plan, which could lead to higher taxes on corporations and the highest-income Americans.
In an email to Immigration and Customs Enforcement, the U.S. Customs and Border Protection has requested air support to send migrants to states near the Canadian border for processing and deportation. This comes as droves of illegal immigrants continue crossing into the U.S. along the border with Mexico on a daily basis. The U.S. border has been closed to non-essential travel since March of 2020 and administration officials say that it will continue to be closed until at least the end of April.
Pray for administration officials as they prepare the next economic “stimulus” plan and how they expect to pay for it.
Legislative Branch: Pray for Senators and Representatives in Congress
Senator Mitt Romney of Utah is “interested” in passing a carbon tax to address climate change, specifically a proposal developed by former Secretaries of State James Baker and George Shultz that would impose a carbon tax beginning at $40 per ton, with a 5 percent annual increase, and returning the revenue to households through quarterly dividends, to offset higher energy prices.
Representative Bryan Steil of Wisconsin introduced legislation to prevent federal prisoners from receiving the $1,400 stimulus checks included in the COVID-19 relief bill.
Pray for the congressional leaders who are moving bills quickly through without benefit of committee hearings, witnesses or debates for many of them.
Judicial Branch: Pray for Supreme Court Justices and Federal Judges
The Supreme Court has agreed to consider the Justice Department’s bid to reinstate the death sentence of the Boston Marathon bomber for his part in helping carry out the 2013 attack that killed three and wounded more than 250 others.
Pray for the justices and judges as they rule on cases that impact U.S. society and judicial precedent.
