Favor former Vice President Joe Biden, but still awaiting results from Washington State
Six states held Democrat party primary votes on what has become known as “Big Tuesday,” following off of the heels of Super Tuesday a week ago.
Four of the five states called so far went to former Vice President Joe Biden: Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri and Idaho. Senator Bernie Sanders took the major delegate count from North Dakota. Still unable to be called was Washington State, which is an all-mail-in-ballot state. Early results had the two men in a race to close to call.
To win the Democrat nomination, a candidate needs to reach 1,991 delegates. At the last report, the former vice president had 840 and the senator from Vermont, 678. Washington voters are deciding how to allot 89 pledged delegates.
March 17 primaries could be a make-or-break result for Senator Sanders. On that day, 477 delegates will be at stake in Arizona, Florida, Illinois, and Ohio.
