Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise from the end of the earth. – Isaiah 42:10
Have you ever received good news that changed your demeanor completely? Maybe you had been having a difficult day or week when someone told you something that turned your whole day around. How did you feel?
The nation of Israel was facing a difficult time during the time of Isaiah. They were being attacked by surrounding nations and also facing exile from their homeland. In the many chapters before Isaiah 40, the prophet warned Israel of God’s impending judgment because of their actions. Thankfully, this was not to be the end of Israel’s story. Isaiah spends the final 26 chapters of the book offering words of hope and encouragement to Israel.
Isaiah promised that Israel would be restored by God. He promised that God would send His Servant, who would bring salvation to God’s people. Keeping this hope in mind, Isaiah called Israel to praise God. Because of who He is and what He would do, the promise of God’s Servant should automatically bring out a song of praise from His people.
Reading this from today’s perspective, it is easy to tell that Jesus was the Servant that Isaiah spoke about. Just as Israel found hope in knowing the restoration that Jesus brought with Him, you are offered that same hope today. Jesus has already come and brought salvation, but the best is yet to come. Sing to the Lord a new song today for the hope you have in Him! Pray that no matter what happens, the whole nation would find hope in God’s promise to bring healing.
Today’s Verse: Isaiah 42:10
Sing to the Lord a new song,
his praise from the end of the earth,
you who go down to the sea, and all that fills it,
the coastlands and their inhabitants.

He drew me up from the pit of destruction,
out of the miry bog,
and set my feet upon a rock,
making my steps secure.
3 He put a new song in my mouth,
a song of praise to our God.
Many will see and fear,
and put their trust in the Lord.
4 Blessed is the man who makes
the Lord his trust,
who does not turn to the proud,
to those who go astray after a lie!
5 You have multiplied, O Lord my God,
your wondrous deeds and your thoughts toward us;
none can compare with you!
I will proclaim and tell of them,
yet they are more than can be told.
6 In sacrifice and offering you have not delighted,
but you have given me an open ear.
Burnt offering and sin offering
you have not required.
7 Then I said, “Behold, I have come;
in the scroll of the book it is written of me:
8 I delight to do your will, O my God;
your law is within my heart.”
9 I have told the glad news of deliverance
in the great congregation;
behold, I have not restrained my lips,
as you know, O Lord.
10 I have not hidden your deliverance within my heart;
I have spoken of your faithfulness and your salvation;
I have not concealed your steadfast love and your faithfulness
from the great congregation.
11 As for you, O Lord, you will not restrain
your mercy from me;
your steadfast love and your faithfulness will
ever preserve me!
