USDA to Invest $42 Million in Rural Resident Care

Higher COVID-19 infection rates warrants increased telemedicine infrastructure.

A report compiled in January by the Rural Policy Research Institute found that COVID infections and deaths were 13.4% higher in rural areas than their urban counterparts. In response to these numbers, the Department of Agriculture will be funding improved medical access strategies by developing and integrating high-quality telemedicine practices.

“USDA is helping rural America build back better using technology as a cornerstone to create more equitable communities,” said Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack. “With health care and education increasingly moving to online platforms, the time is now to make historic investments in rural America to improve quality of life for decades to come.”

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For the Lord to give USDA officials wisdom as they seek to protect rural communities in the U.S.
  • That the USDA’s provisions for those communities would be effective.
  • For the president’s administration as diverse issues are addressed..
