$8.3 billion was more than he requested
On Friday morning, President Trump signed legislation that members of Congress passed on an emergency basis this week. The legislation makes $8.3 billion available to combat the coronavirus outbreak.
“We’ve signed the 8.3 billion. I asked for 2-1/2, and I got 8.3. And I’ll take it,” he told reporters.
Globally, more than 100,000 cases of the coronavirus have been reported with more than 225 cases confirmed in the United States. At least 14 people in the U.S. have died.
