Pray for our Military
National Guard adjutants general of California, Washington, and Michigan say units are stretched to their limits with deployments manning COVID-19 response and vaccination efforts, supporting overseas operations, deploying to Washington, D.C. to provide security, and on standby for national disasters, and they said the Force needs to grow.
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin removed several hundred appointees from their posts in Pentagon advisory boards, a number of whom took office at the end of President Trump’s administration.
Pray for members of the National Guard that God would protect them and keep them healthy as they work to serve and protect the American people.
Pray for AMERICA’S FOREIGN RELATIONS
President Biden announced the end of U.S. support for offensive operations in Yemen where civil war has resulted in some of the world’s worst humanitarian cases. The president’s administration has yet to indicate what future support the U.S. will provide to Saudi Arabia.
The U.S. is rejoining the United Nations Human Rights Council after a three-year absence. The absence came due to concern of bias against Israel and a lack of reform. Speaking of the reason for rejoining, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said, “The most effective way to reform and improve the Council is to engage with it in a principled fashion.”
Pray for God to be at work through the president and leaders at the State Department as they work to maintain or change foreign relationships.
Pray For AMERICA’S HEALTH AND WELL-BEING
A House Oversight subcommittee investigation found “dangerous levels of toxic heavy metals” in certain baby foods that could cause neurological damage and committee members expressed great concern that certain manufacturers and retailers refused to cooperate with the investigation.
U.S. Customs agents seized nearly 13 million counterfeit face masks in the 12 months that ended September 30, according to a new report. They also confiscated 177,000 test kits and 38,000 pharmaceutical tablets prohibited by the Food and Drug Administration.
Pray for the various groups who are tasked with protecting America’s health, safety and welfare.
Pray for AMERICA’S RELATIONSHIP WITH ISRAEL
The U.S. Senate voted 97-0 to keep the U.S. Embassy in Jerusalem permanently, a move welcomed by Israel but bitterly opposed by the Palestinians. Former President Trump moved the embassy from Tel Aviv in 2018.
An arms deal worth billions of dollars between the Israeli Defense Ministry and the United States for new fighter jets, tankers, and helicopters received preliminary approval by Israel’s security cabinet, ending a three-year dispute between the Defense Ministry and Finance Ministry about paying for the weapons.
Pray for United States leaders as they foster the relationship with Israel and work towards peace in the region.
Pray for THE AMERICAN ECONOMY
According to the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, U.S. households are hopeful they will be able to spend more freely in the coming year; but other analysts are concerned that the “buy now, pay later” trend will damage the economy in the long term if borrowers are unable to pay what they owe.
The commission that American home sellers typically pay to realtors is under fire, with the real estate industry accused of antitrust violations and exacting exorbitant fees, and a plethora of lawsuits have been filed that may ultimately reach the Supreme Court for antitrust practices.
Pray for members of the Federal Reserve and Treasury Department and the decisions they make regarding the American economy.
Pray for Justice in America
The Justice Department is building cases against individuals accused of rioting at the Capitol last month, including one person who was charged in court papers as a “chief organizer” of a group of about 100 other members who wanted to prevent the certification of the Electoral College results.
Pray for God’s justice to be accomplished and for the truth to be brought to light in each of the cases the Justice Department handles.
Pray for Goodness in America
A church in Washington state raised more than $300,000 in an effort to relieve the burden of medical debt for families who have been overwhelmed by their expenses and who are being cleared of their debts. A church in Arizona helped school children by providing 9,640 laptop computers to underprivileged children who would not otherwise have them for education.
Pray with thanksgiving for Christians and churches who see needs in their communities and step up to meet them and the strength of the testimony of Christ’s love their actions bring.
Pray for America’s Media
YouTube is being cited for removing a video of a doctor testifying before the U.S. Senate about a widely available drug that early studies show may help treatment and prevention of COVID-19. Senator Ron Johnson of Wisconsin called the removal a “dangerous” action.
Members of the White House press corps say that the president’s administration wants to receive questions in advance of press briefings so that it might better prepare knowledgeable answers at the time of the briefings.
Pray for integrity among the numerous media outlets across the country.
Pray for America’s Education
The National Education Association says teachers should receive priority access to COVID-19 vaccines. The director of the CDC said teachers could return to classrooms without first being vaccinated. Local teacher unions refuse to return teachers to in-person teaching until educators are vaccinated.
The mayor of Chicago warned the city’s teachers union that “enough is enough” and a deal must be struck at once to reopen public schools as students who suffer from “failing grades, depression, and isolation… cannot afford to wait any longer.”
Pray for the many in the nation’s educational systems as they determine what it will take for a safe re-opening of America’s schools.
Pray for Needs Across the States
Lawmakers in Washington state are considering introducing a wealth tax on some financial assets for state residents. The state would impose a 1 percent levy on “extraordinary” intangible financial assets including publicly traded options, cash, futures contracts, and stocks and bonds. Income would not be taxed under the bill that would exempt the first $1 billion.
A state judge ordered the New York Department of Health to release records about nursing home residents who died of COVID-19, ruling that the agency’s failure to do so was already a violation of New York’s open government law. Nursing home deaths and the state’s policies remain under investigation.
Pray for state governments as they continue dealing with the effects of the coronavirus pandemic.
Pray for America’s Faith Community
