Senate delays trial for two weeks to allow both sides time to prepare.
On Friday the House of Representatives announced that it would deliver its approved article of impeachment to the Senate on Monday, triggering the start of an impeachment process of the 45th President Donald Trump. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer promised the American people that there would be “a full trial,” and “a fair trial.”
Some members of the Senate requested that the trial be delayed into February in order to give the Senate the ability to focus on more critical issues, such as administration appointments and legislation. In addition, other requests included giving the House team and the former president’s legal team time to prepare their cases. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell agreed to delay the trial by 2 weeks until February 8th.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the Lord to guide the Senate as prepares to take on the trial.
- That God would guide leaders of Congress to build national unity and work in the best interest of the nation.
- That God would be glorified and His truth would be known and His justice would be accomplished.
