God Is Omnipotent

Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think. – Ephesians 3:20

A group of 76 Nigerian Christians were taken captive and tortured by Boko Haram terrorists. The four men were held at gunpoint and told to renounce their faith in Christ and revert to Islam. When they refused, they were killed in front of their families and friends. Then the wives were also ordered to renounce their faith or their children would be executed. But the children told their mothers that Jesus had appeared to them and “all would be well.” Then the Lord appeared to the group and told them not to fear, that He would protect them.

The next morning the terrorists lined up the children against a wall. When their mothers refused to deny Jesus, the soldiers cocked their rifles and prepared to take aim. Suddenly they grabbed their heads, screaming and shouting “Snakes, snakes!” Some ran away and others dropped dead.

One of the Christians reached down to pick up a dead soldier’s gun to fire at the fleeing Boko Haram militants. But the youngest child put her hand on his arm and said, “You don’t need to do that. Can’t you see the men in white fighting for us?”

All 72 lives were spared and now they live in an area of Nigeria that is safe for Christians.

The Lord is a great God who is omnipotent. When you place your faith in Him, you can trust He will give you power to fulfill His plan for your life. So, as you pray and read His Word, put aside your fears and listen to the Holy Spirit. Pray that America’s leaders will do the same.

27 Why do you say, O Jacob,
    and speak, O Israel,
“My way is hidden from the Lord,
    and my right is disregarded by my God”?
28 Have you not known? Have you not heard?
The Lord is the everlasting God,
    the Creator of the ends of the earth.
He does not faint or grow weary;
    his understanding is unsearchable.
29 He gives power to the faint,
    and to him who has no might he increases strength.
30 Even youths shall faint and be weary,
    and young men shall fall exhausted;
31 but they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength;
    they shall mount up with wings like eagles;
they shall run and not be weary;
    they shall walk and not faint.
