Chad Wolf
Acting Secretary of Homeland Security
Chad F. Wolf was born in 1975 or 1976 in Plano, Texas. He attended Collin College on a tennis scholarship, then earned an undergraduate degree in history from Southern Methodist University. He was involved in the creation of the Transportation Security Administration in the wake of the September 11 attacks.
He left government to become an officer with a prominent bipartisan lobbying firm and held that position for 11 years. He received a Master Certificate in Government Contract Management from Villanova University.
He returned to the Transportation Security Administration where he became Chief of Staff. A year later, he became Chief of Staff for the Department of Homeland Security under Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen. He was promoted to Assistant Secretary of DHS for Strategy, Plans, Analysis and Risk, concurrently serving as Acting Under Secretary for Homeland Security for Strategy, Policy and Plans.
Wolf was appointed as Acting Secretary of Homeland Security in November 2019 by President Trump.
He is married and his two sons.
In the News…
There are reports the Department of Homeland Security will let in as many as 11,000 seasonal guest workers this summer. This would mark the highest level under President Trump. Last year, an additional 30,000 guest workers above the threshold of 65,000 were allowed in. Most of the extra workers for 2020 will come from a pool of people who have already qualified to be part of the H-2B visa program.
A Homeland Security spokesperson said that Acting Secretary Chad Wolf “has made no decision yet on the issue. Any numbers reported at this time are being pushed to press by junior staff who are not privy to all of the discussions taking place.”
A final decision on the matter has not been made and the numbers could still change.
Many guest workers include those dealing with businesses such as landscaping and construction companies, resorts and hotels, where wages are kept low during seasonal times.
