Don’t set your expectations on men.
Proverbs 23:18 – Surely there is a future, and your hope will not be cut off.
An article in Psychology Today says that “human beings have a natural tendency to join their hopes for happiness on fulfilled expectations.” The problem comes when expectations are unrealistic or when there might be no good reason for them. The Law of Attraction, which was hugely popular in the last decade, says that your thoughts attract events into your lives. Unfortunately, just expecting something to happen does not make it happen.
Everyone has expectations, hopes and dreams. They expect things from different sources. People often expect more from other people than their capabilities can fulfill. When expectations aren’t met, disappointment results. While expectations of others may fail, God does not. When you put your expectations only on Him, He is the only One who can meet them, and often go beyond them. Ephesians 3:20 says He is “able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think.”
As you face the 2020 election and its turbulence, pray about your expectations. Use the Word of God as your foundation. Maintain your own integrity, remain obedient to what God has called you to do (He has expectations, too), walk in faith, be ready to wait, and find a means of being a blessing to someone else. Your eyes will shift from expectations to experiencing more of God, regardless of your circumstances.

Father in Heaven, thank You for supplying all my needs, and for keeping me in the center of Your love. I am trusting You completely with the results of the coming election, setting aside my own expectations for Your will that shall bring glory to You. Spirit of God, open my eyes to see beyond the days ahead to the plans of the Father. Let Your joy and peace fill me to overflowing. Thank You for answering my prayers, for I ask in the Name of Jesus,
