Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. – Ephesians 5:17
Do you know what the will of the Lord is? Sometimes when it gets down to daily decisions, things get fuzzy – how you spend your time and money, and how you react in difficult circumstances or trying relationships. Sometimes it’s easier to go with feelings rather than priorities. Emotions can serve as red flags. Why do you feel the way you feel? What are your emotions telling you about the changes you may need to make in your life?
However, Christians who desire the will of God for their lives must study the Bible and pray to understand what God desires for you. Sometimes feelings, however genuine and understandable, may swing you away from God’s will. No matter what’s going on around you or however confusing things can be, the most important thing to remember is to love God and love others, the two greatest commandments (Matthew 22:36-40).
Take a look at how you spend your time and money and the reason behind these choices. Can you see evidence of a person who loves God and others? Concerning priorities, Jesus said, “But seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you” (Mathew 6:33). By “these things” He was referring to your physical needs being met. As you spend time in prayer, pray for God’s will to be done in the little things as well as the big things. Pray for the leaders and citizens of the nation to have a renewed desire for God’s will in their lives.
