Complacency is a dangerous state of mind.
Joel 2:13 – Now return to the Lord your God, for He is gracious and merciful, slow to anger, abounding in steadfast love; and he relents over disaster.
The Cambridge Dictionary defines complacency as “a feeling of calm satisfaction with your own abilities or situation that prevents you from trying harder.” In these days of coronavirus lockdowns and political wrangling, it might be difficult to think of anyone as being complacent. There seems to be no such thing as security , the economy fluctuates wildly, riots could happen in your city at any time. But many bury their “heads in the sand,” tend to complacent activities like watching television or playing video games, going about everyday activities when things outside your four walls are anything but “every day.”
“God is in control,” you say to yourself, “so I will just sit back and let things happen.” It is that level of complacency, according to researchers at My Faith Votes, that says of the 90 million Christians in America eligible to vote, as many as 40 million fail to do so, and 15 million aren’t even registered. The Bible tells you to pay your taxes…it is part of your civic duty (Romans 13:6-7). Shouldn’t you also take part in maintaining a godly society?
It is a privilege to vote. It is time to get off your comfortable complacency and be concerned about how your government is run, how your society is ruled, and make your voice heard this November.

Dear Father in Heaven, thank You for Your reminder that, to be faithful stewards of all You have given me, including my freedoms, I need to exercise that stewardship by voting. I am registered; and I pray for those in my family of faith who are just “sitting this one out.” Impress upon them the extreme importance of their vote this year, a year that could pivot our nation one direction or another…to one that will honor You or will ignore You. Bless me as I study and discern the best person for the office, and then as I vote, for I ask it in Jesus’ Name,
