Labor Department Finalizes Grant for Military Transitions in Texas

The funding is intended to assist Fort Bliss service members and spouses access job training and employment resources.

The U.S. Department of Labor announced the awarding of $4.7 million in federal funding to support service members and their spouses transitioning to civilian life in El Paso County, Texas. The latest award of approximately $1.56 million completes the National Dislocated Worker Grant, which was first announced in March 2023 and expanded with a second round of funding in August 2024.

The program was designed to ensure continued access to employment and training resources for those affected by military transition near Fort Bliss.

The funding enables Workforce Solutions Borderplex—one of Texas’ 28 public workforce development boards—to assist service members and their spouses through targeted services. Under the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act of 2014 (WIOA), the grant supports regions experiencing increased demand due to military transitions, in order to reduce economic strain and promote successful civilian employment outcomes.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer to be led by the Lord as she manages the Department of Labor.
  • For U.S. labor officials as they seek to support military service members and their spouses as they transition to civilian employment.
  • For U.S. military personnel and their families as they serve on active duty at home and abroad.
