The Pentagon announced troop consolidation as the focus remains on regional stability and counterterrorism efforts.
The U.S. Department of Defense announced it is consolidating its forces in Syria, withdrawing approximately 600 troops in the coming months. The troops will be repositioned under Combined Joint Task Force – Operation Inherent Resolve at select locations. The U.S. Central Command will continue counterterrorism operations and work with coalition partners to respond to threats in the region.
“Recognizing the success the United States has had against ISIS, including its 2019 territorial defeat under President Trump, today the Secretary of Defense directed the consolidation of U.S. forces in Syria under Combined Joint Task Force — Operation Inherent Resolve to select locations in Syria,” Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell stated recently. “This consolidation reflects the significant steps we have made toward degrading ISIS’ appeal and operational capability regionally and globally.”
The U.S. military presence in Syria has played the dual role of suppressing ISIS resurgence and supporting Kurdish forces amid tensions with Turkey. The troop reduction returns levels close to pre-2023 figures. The U.S. had increased troops in response to regional threats following the October 7 Hamas attack in Israel.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

- For U.S. Pentagon officials to fulfill their roles with integrity and honor.
- For the Lord to bless all who serve in the U.S. Armed Forces and keep them safe.
