God is Enough

Do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself.  – Matthew 6:34

Have you struggled with anxiety? In today’s verse, Jesus says to not worry about tomorrow for today has enough trouble as it is. How are you today? Have you been distracted by expectations of tomorrow or five years from now? It is time to focus on the Lord, not the past, future, or your problems. A common Christian quote states, “Don’t tell God how big your problem is, tell your problem how big God is.”

How big is God? As it says in Genesis, He created Heaven and Earth and the entire universe. Isaiah wrote, “Thus says the Lord, ‘Heaven is my throne and the earth is my footstool’” (Isaiah 66:1). Peter said, “With the Lord one day is as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day” (2 Peter 3:8). Jesus stated, “All things are possible with God” (Matthew 19:26). Abraham was ready to sacrifice his son because he believed God would raise him from the dead to fulfill His promise (Hebrews 11:18-19).

What has the Lord promised you? Has your God-given vision died? As so often occurs in Scripture, God gives a promise, then something happens to make it look impossible. Then the Lord fulfills that promise so there’s no doubt Who did it. When Joseph was in prison, the vision of being a ruler sounded impossible, but then he became second only to Pharaoh. Rest in and rely on His promises and know that, no matter how things appear, God is big enough, strong enough, and mighty enough to fulfill them. Pray for the United States that the work the Lord started in it will be completed (Philippians 1:6).

Today’s Verse: Matthew 6:34

“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

19 Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the holy places by the blood of Jesus, 20 by the new and living way that he opened for us through the curtain, that is, through his flesh, 21 and since we have a great priest over the house of God, 22 let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, with our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water. 23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful. 24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.
