Today, Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Special Envoy Steve Witkoff are in Paris, France, for talks on ending the Russia-Ukraine war. Envoy Witkoff is scheduled to meet with French President Emmanuel Macron while Secretary Rubio engages in discussions with Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot.
President Donald Trump has again promoted the need for peace and to stop the bloodshed. “I think the whole war is a horrible thing,” the president stated this week. “That’s a war that should have never been allowed to start.“
Envoy Witkoff met with Russian President Vladimir Putin last week. He reported that the “contours of a peace deal with Russia are gradually coming into view.”
The U.S. officials will also discuss the Middle East, potential nuclear deal with Iran, and progress on trade negotiations with the French leaders.
